There was this one cabinet in my parent’s house growing up that stored about 10 different very large, leather photo albums of my sisters and I growing up. Starting from my birth all the way to my sister’s 16th birthday were chronicled in what seemed like a time capsule, and it was amazing.
About once a year, we would take them all out and reminisce about what we were like when we were younger, hear the same funny story over and over again, and make fun of each other until our stomachs hurt from laughter. The pure joy of that little memory is why I print my pictures.
It’s not about showing them off, it’s about remembering those amazing times in my history. In that moment in time, I was laughing with childhood friends at the zoo in matching overall outfits. Or my aunt got married to the love of her life and I got to dress up in my adorable flower girl dress and crown (do flower crowns ever really go out of style?!). No matter what picture it was, there was a story behind it.
Obviously social media and digital everything makes printing pictures less desirable or even needed! But sometimes, I get the urge to look through an album instead of scrolling through a Facebook gallery and think back to those amazing memories, remember dear people in my life, and experience the joy all over again.
As I get older, have a family, it is my goal to chronicle every year in a wonderful album that my kids can one day go back through and reminisce just as my sisters and I did, laughing until their stomachs hurt.
If you need some help building an album, have no fear, I am here! But seriously, reach out if you have any questions at all.
