Is it even the holidays if you don’t have peppermint bark?! Homemade peppermint bark is one of the easiest holiday desserts that make the best addition to any cookie platter or random homemade gift.
Newbie baker note: Let the bark warm up a bit before cutting it if you want straight squares, otherwise you get crazy lines and breakage like mine!
Peppermint Bark
Ingredients
1 cup melting chocolate
1 cup melting white chocolate
peppermint candies
Instructions
Crush peppermint candies into small bits either in a food processor or by hand. Set aside.
Place parchment in a 9×9 pan or small cookie sheet. The size of the pan will determine the thickness of the bark so for thinner bark, choose the cookie sheet.
Melt your chocolate wafers in the microwave safe bowl for 2 minutes at half power. Stir until mixed. If not fully melted, continue melting in the microwave at :20 second intervals at half power until fully melted.
Spread the melted chocolate in the pan and use a spatula to ensure it is spread evenly and hits the edges. Place in the fridge.
Repeat melting technique for the white chocolate. Spread the white chocolate on top of the regular chocolate. Cover with the chopped peppermint candies. Put in the fridge or freezer until set.
When ready to eat/share/enjoy, take out and cut into desired shapes (recommend either the rough, random look or standard squares).
